Today, an hour long bus ride from the port of Messina took us to Taormina for a three hour visit. In Taormina, we walked along Corso Umbertoi, window shopping and looking at the colorful buildings and narrow passage ways. I walked to the Greek Theater which was built by the Romans. This theater remains in use today and it appeared that the stage was being prepared for a future show.
The walk back to the bus pick-up area was essentially a reverse path. After stopping to purchase a ceramic plate for the house, we briefly detoured from our walk to see the Municipal Gardens. At this point, we had about 45 minutes before leaving. This provided just enough time to order a take-away ham, cheese and tomato pannini, coke and iced fruit bars for an afternoon snack.
