Galapagos and Machu Picchu - September 2025

We just returned from our trip to the Galapagos and Machu Picchu. Overall, it was quite an adventure and highly enjoyable.

We used Celebrity Cruises to arrange our trip, starting with a visit to Quito, Ecuador, and continuing to a seven-day tour of Galápagos Islands on the 100 guest Celebrity Flora. From the Galapagos, we traveled with Celebrity guides to Machu Picchu via Lima, Cusco and the Sacred Valley. There were 22 guests from the Celebrity Flora on this Machu Picchu extension.

The Celebrity Cruises Galapagos naturalists were excellent as they described the wildlife and geology of each of our island stops. At each island visit we had an opportunity to select a guided walk, wildlife tender rides, kayak and/or snorkel activities.

Our Celebrity Machu Picchu guides were also terrific, handling daily activities, transportation, meals, and sharing historical and cultural information with us. The Celebrity Machu Picchu guides were especially helpful as they responded to several LATAM plane flight cancellations and/or substantial air departure delays.

During our visits, the Celebrity Flora provided a very relaxing and comfortable base for our Galapagos island stops. Celebrity also used beautiful hotels in Lima, Cusco and Urubamba (Sacred Valley).

Over the next couple of weeks, I will be sharing posts and photos describing this trip.
