Ending Our Month "Down Under" Trip

January 29 was a long travel day for us. Staring with a three hour drive from Wolgan Valley Resort on the 29th to the Sydney airport, we caught a flight from Sydney to Los Angeles at 3pm on the 29th. Landing at 9:30am in Los Angeles on the 29th, we'll catch a Southwest flight to arrive at our northern California airport at 3pm on the 29th. A very long Tuesday for us. Of course, this makes up for our loss of January 2, on the flight over to Australia from the US.

For our first month long travel experience, the trip went by very quickly. Highlights of the trip include our visit to Sydney, Uluru (or Ayers Rock), Akaroa and Mount Maunganui. We hardly had time in Alice Springs and probably either would have attempted to add more time to this stop or bypass it altogether. The five hour coach trip between Uluru and Alice Springs consumed too much time for our short Alice Springs visit.

Despite the wide range of temperatures, I learned that packing even lighter is possible. This tends to mean more hand  washing during the evening and wearing a limited set of clothes over and over. Also, this trip I abandoned all cotton polo and t-shirts in favor of athletic quick-dry shirts. In hot temperature areas, our hand washing dried overnight - though at times the room looked odd with drying clothes on hangers spread around the room.

Our next extended trip will be to Rome and the Greek Islands.
