Victoria Falls

After an overnight stay in Johannesburg, we boarded an early morning flight to the airport at Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. It only took a 20 minute car shuttle to reach the Victoria Falls Hotel. We will stay at this location for a couple of nights.

The Victoria Falls Hotel was built in 1904. The building and grounds are immaculate and our room is furnished in an early 1900s style. The service is also very attentive. Our trip planner had arranged a number of special services for our stay. Check-in was not done at the registration desk, but in a separate lounge with just the two of us.  We even have some free massage time.

This afternoon, we took a two hour cruise down the Zambezi river. It was a very peaceful journey and gave us the opportunity to chat with the other passengers about their African holiday. We saw hippos, crocodiles and birds along the river. The trip was made even more relaxing as the staff served drinks and snacks throughout the cruise. We ended the cruise at 6pm and ended up too full for dinner!

Tomorrow, we're off for a walk along Victoria Falls. I was told our guide will supply ponchos for us as the spray from the falls is so strong, it is like walking in a heavy rain.
