We just returned from three nights on the Golden Princess. The
cruise departed from and returned to the San Pedro port in Los Angeles. This
cruise was basically one at-sea day and one port day stop in Ensenada. Princess
seems to offer some great discounts for West Coast three night cruises. The
price for a mini-suite, after allowances for on-board credit, was about $195
per day for the two of us. Not bad considering this included a mid-ship cabin
location, all meals and entertainment.

During the cruise, we celebrated my wife's birthday. Our cabin
door was decorated with balloons and a birthday sign. During dinner, the waiter
brought a chocolate cake slice with a birthday candle to help us celebrate the
date.
This cruise seemed to have more large groups than we’ve seen in
the past. Many of the passengers seemed to be from California. It doesn’t make
much sense to travel great distances to take a three night cruise. These trips provide
an attractive way for locals to increase their cruise count that elevates them
within the Princess loyalty program.

The last time we were in Ensenada, on a return cruise from Hawaii,
we stayed on ship. Yesterday, after breakfast and a gym visit, we decided to
stretch our legs in the port city and take a short walk along the shopping street
of Avenida Lopez Mateos. While we enjoyed the walk, we’re not much for shopping
and returned back for lunch on board.
As we return home, we’ll need to start planning for the gathering about
20 family members at our house for Thanksgiving. We ordered the fresh turkey and 'home-baked' pies
before we left home, so the main menu items are taken care of – other than the
day and half of actual cooking.
